Ferragudo may be a small fishing village, but when it comes to food, this place punches above its weight. From breezy cafés in the square to beachside hangouts and cliffside sunset spots, we’ve spent the last few years eating our way through town… and we’ve got favorites. Here’s our curated list of restaurants, cafés, and bars we genuinely recommend, plus a few to skip.
Note: This is in no way comprehensive. There are so many other great options in this spectacular town we love. Ok, now let’s get on with where to eat in Ferragudo, Portugal!
Morning Favorites & Casual Cafés
O Molhe (on the cliff overlooking the jetty toward Portimão)
Best for: Coffee, pastries, toasts, wine/beer
This is our go-to for a slow morning or golden hour stop. Great views of the water, especially at sunset.
Skip: Smoothies, sandwiches, or any tropical cocktails… just not worth it.
Quiosque da Vila (in the park at the center of town)
Best for: Bifanas, ham & cheese croissants, fresh pastries, beer/wine
Classic Portuguese kiosk vibes with reliably good snacks and drinks.
Skip: The sangria (overpriced) & smoothies.
Gastro Bar & Bistro (just off the square)
Best for: Pancakes, eggs, pastries, everything breakfast
It’s a gem. Everything we’ve tried here has been so good. It’s become a favorite morning spot.

We haven’t had a bad dish here. It’s a classic spot to bring visitors who want local flavors.
Café Bar Beira Mar
Best for: Low-cost breakfast, coffee, beer
Simple, local, and affordable. The food is nothing fancy, but the coffee is good, and it’s right by the action.
Global Flavors
Tasca David’s Indian Tandoori Restaurant
Cuisine: Indian, Middle Eastern
Best for: Authentic Indian spice, rich curries, naan
A long-time favorite of ours when we’re craving something different. Everything is flavorful and fresh.
What to Skip
Ferragudo’s Terrace Gastrobar
Cuisine: Seafood
Vibe: Great for a drink with a view, but the food doesn’t justify the price tag.
Best for: Atmosphere and maybe an appetizer
Skip: The mains, very overpriced for the quality.
Beachside Bites (Praia Grande)
Kalu Beach Bar
Best for: G&Ts, snacks, casual lunch
Dutch-owned and a local fave. Perfect post-swim hangout with good food and a relaxed beach vibe.
Club Nau
Vibe: Trendier, upscale spot right on the beach
Live music, upscale ambiance, and cocktails. Not cheap, but lovely for a nicer beachside evening.
Escondidinho Beach Bar
A hidden gem for live music and snacks…more relaxed and local-feeling than Club Nau.
